Heat Recovery & Ventilation Systems

The perversity of the drive to be super eco in buildings is that this creates other problems. A super insulated, air tight house would be very unhealthy for the occupants. To overcome this, Building Regulations require the installation of HVAC systems. These are mechanical ventilation systems that address the issues caused by the high levels of insulation. These units bring in fresh air from outside, benefit from heat transfer (the heat recovery bit) of stale air being removed from the building to create a pleasant environment. Options typically include features such as Pollen Filters to filter the air and “Comfort Cooling” which can reduce the ambient air temperature by up to 10 degrees.
